An old idea made new! With the increased use of debit and credit cards at the pump, our convenience store operators challenged our sales staff to help them find a way to entice people back into the store. The impulse buys made inside the store are critical to their profitability.

The team at HAMCO accepted this challenge and resurrected an old program developed years ago for in-store security. By adding a gold star at preset intervals and simply stating “YOU ARE A WINNER! COME INSIDE FOR DETAILS” to the pump receipt rolls, a solution was found and the HAMCO Gold Star Program was launched. Winners are given a free fountain drink or cup of coffee and are likely to purchase other items to complement the free item. This concept encourages repeat business and can also be used as a customer appreciation program.
